Excavator
Piston Pump which is essential for the operation of various attachments like buckets, arms, and other implements.
A piston pump in an excavator functions to move hydraulic fluid under high pressure from the hydraulic reservoir to different parts of the excavator's hydraulic system. This high-pressure fluid then powers the hydraulic cylinders and motors that enable the excavator to perform tasks such as digging, lifting, and rotating.
There are two main types of piston pumps used in excavators:
1. Axial Piston Pumps: These have pistons arranged parallel to the drive shaft. They can be either variable displacement or fixed displacement, depending on the design.
2. Radial Piston Pumps: Less common in excavators, these have pistons arranged radially around the drive shaft. They are typically fixed displacement but can also be variable displacement.
The piston pump works by converting rotational motion from the engine into reciprocating motion within the pistons. As the pistons move back and forth inside their respective cylinders, they create suction and pressure, which forces hydraulic fluid through the system. This process is vital for controlling the movement of the excavator’s components with precision and power.
